Acupuncture for FERTILITY,  PREGNANCY, and Labour induction Gold Coast.

At Acupuncture Hub, we work with women and couples who are seeking support on their fertility and pregnancy journey. Acupuncture may assist by improving blood flow to the reproductive organs, regulating menstrual cycles, and reducing stress, which are all important factors when trying to conceive. For those undergoing IVF or other assisted reproductive treatments, acupuncture is often used alongside medical care to support implantation and promote overall wellbeing during the process. During pregnancy, treatments may also help relieve common symptoms such as nausea, back pain, fatigue, and stress, while encouraging balance as the body prepares for birth.
Each treatment is tailored to your individual needs, with the aim of creating the best possible environment for conception and a healthy pregnancy. Our comprehensive prenatal and postnatal acupuncture services are available at our Currumbin clinic on the Gold Coast, servicing Palm Beach, Tugun, Coolangatta, Elanora and Tweed Heads regions.

We are registered and qualified experts in Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture.

Is there a test to know if I am fertile?

There is no single test that confirms overall fertility, since fertility depends on many combined factors in both partners. Tests such as sperm analysis, egg reserve testing, and checks for blocked tubes, endometriosis, or polycystic ovaries can each reveal one piece of the picture, but not the whole picture on their own. It is also worth noting that a significant portion of early pregnancy loss is linked to male factors, particularly alcohol use, cannabis use, or a high carbohydrate diet.

Is acupuncture safe during a high risk pregnancy?

Yes, acupuncture is safe during a high risk pregnancy when delivered by a registered and experienced acupuncturist, and we treat high risk patients regularly. Traditional Chinese Medicine includes specific acupuncture points used with the aim of supporting the pregnancy and reducing the risk of miscarriage, and treatment is adjusted carefully for each individual's risk profile.

Should both partners receive fertility acupuncture, not just the female?

Yes, treating both partners gives the best results, since focusing on the female alone only regulates hormones on one side of conception. Sperm quality plays a much larger role than most people realise, with research linking poor sperm health to smaller fetal size, higher rates of genetic mutation, and increased miscarriage risk. For this reason we treat couples together rather than individuals.

When should I start fertility acupuncture before trying to conceive?

Starting acupuncture around three months before you begin trying to conceive gives the best results, since this allows time to support egg and sperm quality through their natural development cycle. Earlier support also gives time to address any underlying hormonal or lifestyle factors before conception is attempted.

Can acupuncture be used alongside IVF treatment?

Yes, acupuncture is commonly used alongside IVF and other assisted reproductive treatments to support the process rather than replace it. Treatment is typically timed around key stages such as embryo transfer, with the aim of supporting implantation, reducing stress, and promoting overall wellbeing throughout the cycle.

How many acupuncture sessions do I need for fertility support?

Most fertility clients begin with weekly sessions for both partners over the three months leading up to conception, since this is roughly the full development cycle for both egg and sperm quality. Session frequency is then adjusted based on individual circumstances, whether you are trying naturally or undergoing IVF or other assisted treatment.

WHAT TO EXPECT

For our fertility clients only, we offer a 2.5 hour initial consult for both parties. This consult includes an acupuncture treatment for both of you and aims to answer any questions you may have. It also aims to educate about the do’s and don’ts of conception and pregnancy. We work hand in hand with doctors, surgeons, and other fertility specialists. We have invested a lot of time and effort into researching fertility and how it relates to polycystic ovaries, endometriosis, amenorrhea, and more. We enjoy educating and empowering our clients to make informed choices.

ACUPUNCTURE FOR NATURAL LABOUR INDUCTION

Acupuncture supports natural labour by working with the body's own readiness rather than forcing labour to start, using specific acupuncture points shown to support cervical ripening, encourage natural contractions, and calm the nervous system in the final weeks of pregnancy. It does not replicate a medical induction. Instead, treatment helps your body prepare so labour can begin naturally when conditions are right.Certain acupuncture points are avoided in earlier pregnancy because they are understood to stimulate uterine activity. In the final weeks, we use these same points deliberately, alongside others chosen to support cervical ripening, encourage contractions, and help you feel physically and mentally ready for birth. The ideal time to begin a full labour preparation course is 36 weeks pregnant, giving four weekly sessions before your estimated due date to work on cervical ripening, positioning, and nervous system support. Starting later is still worthwhile. Weekly sessions from wherever you are up to 40 plus weeks continue to give your body meaningful preparation. From 38 weeks, treatment shifts focus toward more directly encouraging labour to begin.Research in this area is still developing, and results vary between individuals, but the evidence is worth knowing. Studies have looked at moxibustion supporting favourable positioning in breech pregnancies, and a New Zealand study of women receiving regular acupuncture from 36 weeks found lower rates of medical induction and shorter labours in that group.Does acupuncture actually induce labour?Acupuncture does not induce labour in the same immediate way as a medical induction. It works by supporting the body's own natural readiness for birth, so labour begins when conditions are right rather than being forced to start on a set timeline. When should I start labour induction acupuncture? The ideal time to start is 36 weeks pregnant, which allows four weekly sessions before your due date. Starting later, even at 38, 39, or 40 plus weeks, still gives your body useful preparation before birth. Is acupuncture for labour induction safe?Yes, when performed by a registered and experienced acupuncturist. Specific points are used deliberately in the final weeks of pregnancy for this purpose, while those same points are avoided earlier in pregnancy for safety reasons.
