MIGRAINES, TENSION HEADACHE AND OCCIPITAL NEURALGIA

Migraines can involve vomiting, nausea, light sensitivity and extreme pain. Occipital Neuralgia is a type of a headache which is due to an inflamed nerve at the base of the skull and spinal cord. Symptoms can be sharp, jabbing or like an electric shock in the back of the head. Acupuncture treatment aims to shorten the length and intensity of the pain.

RECURRING HEADACHES

A headache is the body trying to let you know that it is out of balance. Chinese medicine can help you find the root cause of the headache. A few small lifestyle changes and some relaxing acupuncture and the body will be back in balance. Did you know headaches behind the eye’s are from a liver imbalance. The side of the head is the a Gall Bladder imbalance and a frontal headache is an imbalance in the stomach.

TREATMENT

Once we establish the root cause of a headache (i.e Liver disharmony or Gall Bladder disharmony etc.) then treatment can begin on that particular meridian. If the treatment is progressing well, the pain may be significantly reduced after 20 to 30 minutes. We also offer practical advice on the root cause of your headache, so that the headache may be avoided in the future.
VIEWPOINT OF CHINESE MEDICINE
In Chinese Medicine, headaches occur due to an imbalance in the internal organs and the meridians. For example, a headache that is marked by pain in the forehead is related to a disharmony of the stomach meridian. A headache which is affecting the sides of the head is due to a Gall Bladder Meridian disharmony. If the pain is in the eyes or vertex of the head, then the headache is related to a liver disharmony.
