Acupuncture Hub Establishes New Clinical Standard for Musculoskeletal Care on the Gold Coast

Currumbin clinic introduces functional acupuncture framework — a musculoskeletal methodology that addresses the root cause of pain, not just its location

Acupuncture Hub, the Gold Coast's most-reviewed acupuncture clinic, today announces the formal adoption of a functional acupuncture framework as its primary clinical methodology — a significant departure from conventional pain treatment that targets symptoms, and a commitment to identifying and resolving the structural drivers of musculoskeletal pain.

Currumbin Waters, QLD — Acupuncture Hub, located at 1/7 Coghill Drive, Currumbin Waters, holds full registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and membership with the Australian Traditional Medicine Society (ATMS) — the two peak bodies governing acupuncture practice in Australia. This dual registration ensures patients receive care that meets the highest regulatory and professional standards available.

A different approach to pain

Conventional pain management — whether through massage, physiotherapy, or standard acupuncture — typically focuses on the site of pain. Functional acupuncture is built on a different premise: pain is rarely where the problem originates.

Inspired by the clinical framework of Czech neurologist Dr Vladimir Janda — whose landmark research on muscular imbalance patterns established that dysfunction travels predictably through the body's kinetic chain — the functional acupuncture methodology begins every consultation with a structural movement assessment before a single needle is placed.

Treatment targets the major muscles on each side of the affected joint — releasing those that are overactive and compressing the joint, reactivating those that have been inhibited and leaving it without adequate support. When the muscular balance around a joint is restored, it moves correctly. When it moves correctly, the pain signal resolves.

"If you are always needling the sore spot, you are treating the symptom, not the system. The key to long-term pain relief is restoring joint function — and that means understanding what is preventing the joint from moving correctly in the first place."
